News@MQ Guidelines

News@MQ is the official staff newsletter of Macquarie University. It is produced by the  Marketing Unit and is published on the web at www.staffnews.mq.edu.au For sustainability reasons, the publication is not produced in hardcopy.

A new edition of News@MQ appears on the web fortnightly on the first working day of the week (ie usually every second Monday morning). The deadline for submissions is close of business the previous Wednesday. Staff will be alerted to the publication of the new edition of News@MQ via the daily MQ Announcement email on the Monday. There is no unsubscribe facility.

Archived editions of News@MQ are at: www.staffnews.mq.edu.au/previous_editions

News@MQ is being continually improved and the editor welcomes comments and  suggestions on the publication from staff. Contact Us to send an email to the editor.

Submissions

Submissions to News@MQ on items of  interest to Macquarie   University staff are  encouraged. Contributors must be Macquarie University staff. With  the exception of Classifieds, which remain a regular segment within the  newsletter, items about non-University events or activities, or advertisements  or sponsorships (this includes information on sales, special deals, private  short courses and tickets to performances), will not be accepted. Classifieds  are free, but only staff may advertise items, and a valid Macquarie  email contact address must be provided and will be published.

Submissions to News@MQ should be as brief as possible. To minimise the length  of items, readers should be invited to email a respondent, or follow a link, if more information is available. Areas of the University will not automatically receive space for columns – rather we encourage staff to submit items only when  they have genuine news of interest to a considerable number of Macquarie staff.

The editor reserves the right to edit items on the grounds of length, style and suitability, or to reject submissions if  they are deemed inappropriate. Repeat items will normally not be included.  Requests for study participants must include approval numbers.

Information that has been sent out as an MQ Announcement will not be duplicated in News@MQ. Similarly, items published  elsewhere on the central Macquarie website, will not normally be re-posted in News@MQ. For example, events should be listed on the events website www.pr.mq.edu.au/events/ and jobs should be posted through the Human Resources jobs website to prevent  duplication across the Macquarie network.

Views expressed in News@MQ are not necessarily the views of the editor, the Marketing Unit or Macquarie University.

To submit items, Contact Us and send an email to the editor.
